Evangelicals in American Life

This book will trace the history of the Evangelical presence in the United States from colonial times to the present. In particular, it will focus on how Evangelicals organized themselves into a political force during the middle years of the last century and how this political activity impacts politics today.

The book will also examine how the Evangelical presence has replaced the Catholic Church as a social force in inner-city, immigrant communities and how this situation could remake current political underpinnings of the Evangelical movement.
